FAQs

What happens

during a session?

Sessions are held in a cleansed and tranquil room.  On arrival we will have a chat about why you’ve come for a Reiki treatment and how you are feeling. If you’re new to Reiki I will explain how it works and what to expect during and after the treatment.

Then I’ll invite you to lie on the treatment table, fully clothed, and help you to get comfortable,

with pillows and blankets as required.

During the treatment I’ll have my hands on or hovering over the body, starting with the head

and working down to the feet. I will not touch any private parts of the body and you can have

the whole treatment without touch if you are more comfortable with that.

Will I feel anything during the session?

During the treatment you may feel the energy in different parts of your body, or beneath my hands. You may feel warmth, cold, tingling, pulsing or vibrating. Some people feel energy coming into their body and others feel like it is being released. Some clients have visualisations, breakthrough thoughts or emotional feelings. Others might not feel anything at all during the session, just a sense of deep relaxation. Rest assured that Reiki works regardless of whether you feel anything or not.

Do I need to do anything to prepare for a session?

Not really. Just wear comfortable clothing and come with an open mind. You might want to reflect on any areas of your life or body you'd like to focus on, but this isn't necessary. It is recommended that you do not drink alcohol or take recreational drugs for at least 24 hours prior to treatment. This is so your body will be in the best position to receive healing.

How many treatments will I need?

Some clients enjoy weekly sessions, while others come once a month, or whenever they feel the need. As you get to know your body and energy levels better, you'll be able to decide what works best for you. It is said that to receive the optimum benefits of Reiki an individual should have 4 sessions consecutively - however I always suggest to really listen to your body and intuition, and assess what feels right for you.

Can Reiki cure or treat diseases and medical conditions?

Reiki is a complementary therapy, which means it's used alongside traditional treatments rather than as a replacement. While Reiki isn't a cure for diseases or medical conditions, clearing blocked energy allows your body to be in a much better position to heal. It can help you manage symptoms and improve overall wellbeing, by promoting relaxation and stress reduction.

Is Reiki safe?

There are no known contra-indications for Reiki. It is a non-intrusive treatment, it involves no manipulation of the body and is very safe during pregnancy and for children. Reiki works with the body’s own healing ability which means it is very safe.
